We started this business 5 years ago, mainly building portable signs out of an all aluminum frame. With a passion for welding and metal fabrication, we decided to use aluminum as our weapon of choice.
Aluminum is used in many applications, and across a variety of industries. Our choice to use aluminum has a lot to do with our lifestyle. Growing up we spent summer after summer at the lake; swimming, boating, having fires, you name it. We wanted to design and build the best products to suit our leisure activities, and as a result we started building docks manufactured with aluminum frames.
Benefits of Using Aluminum
Strong: although aluminum may not be the strongest, it is a more consistent and reliable metal. Unlike steel and other options, aluminum does not lose it's strength or durability with changes in temperature. This makes it a great metal for all of your outdoor needs.
Lightweight: one of aluminum's most redeemable qualities is how lightweight it is. Being about one third of the weight of steel, aluminum offers versatility without compromising strength. Aluminum's light weight structure allows for easy to move docks, boat lifts, ice shacks, mobile signs, etc. It also cuts the cost of manufacturing which allows us to provide products at an affordable price. A little fun fact is that you can get an aluminum dock that weighs almost 45% less than the same steel dock without compromising any strength.
Corrosion Resistant: What is common between docks and boat lifts, ice shacks, trailers, mobile signs, etc.? They are all used in outdoor applications which means that they need to be made out of a material that isn't affected by drastic changes in the environment. Aluminum naturally generates a thin oxide coating that protects the metal against water, harsh weather conditions, and changes in temperature. Purchases of aluminum product should be considered an investment because they are going to last longer than their steel or wood alternatives. Where steel will rust and wood will rot, aluminum will resist corrosion and save you money in the long run!
Mobile: There are a lot of things we rely on now that would not be possible without aluminum. Okay, maybe they would be possible but they definitely would not be as efficient. Aluminum‘s mobility is what allows the metal to be used across various industries. Did you know the transportation industry, air and space travel, and the digital world all rely on the mobility of aluminum? The metal is lightweight, durable, and can be easily transformed to suit a variety of needs. We at TR are pretty thankful for this versatile metal- can you imagine carrying a steel boat lift down the steps to your beach?!
Sustainable: All of the attributes listed above contribute to aluminum being a highly sustainable metal. Aluminum can be recycled indefinitely, and because of that it is one of the most widely recycled materials. Recycled aluminum saves 95% of the energy that it would take to produce new aluminum. In terms of application, aluminum's lightweight reduces shipping costs, vehicle emissions, and more. Did you know, the aluminum industry in North America will soon reach a point where it returns more energy than it consumes?
Fun Facts About Aluminum
